T hat’s right, you heard it correct. Our team, which consists of Michael Dennis, Kevin Rudis and myself were crowned champions in an amazing comeback victory on Thursday 06/19/2008. For those of you who do not know how the league scoring system goes, it is based on a point system. You get 4 points per night, 3 of which can be achieved by winning all three games you play that night. The fourth point is for the team that has the highest pin-fall for the evening.

< When we arrived and saw that we were 3 points down against a really tough team and we were not feeling very confident about our chances of winning. Being down by 3 points, means, we have to win all 3 games, and get the fourth point for total pin-fall. So, the battle begins. Read More to hear the full story.

Game 1 – The first game was a tough one that came down to the very last frame. It ended with the opposing team being up by nearly 40 points, and I was up to bowl following two straight strikes. I got up, and threw a strike, then another, and then a 9, which gave us the win by 6 points. This was way, way, way too close.. We almost lost it the first game. I finished with a 199.

Game 2 – With the first game win under our belt, we had a new stride of confidence going into the second game. I finished the game with about 8 strikes and a 234 game. Michael and Kevin also had higher games than the first, so we beat this team by almost 100 points. So, all we have to do now is just win the last game. We essentially have already got 3 points, but 3 is not enough.

Game 3 – This was one of the most exciting games I have ever played, BAR NONE! It was back and forth all game, and we were tied exactly heading into the tenth frame. I was coming into the 10th with a strike, and my partners both had left open frames. My partners then rolled and both left open frames, which put all the pressure on me since I am the last bowler (known as the anchor) on the team. Going into the final frame, we were down by almost 20. I through my first ball, and hit the pocket perfectly, BUT unfortunately it split the pins. The other team’s last player rolled his shot, and he left a 7 pin. When I looked up at the score, we were tied. All he had to do was hit that 10 pin, and it was over. He threw his ball, and guttered it!!!

So, all I had to do now, was knock down one pin. I threw the ball, and the world just slowed down to a snails pace. As everyone waited, I turned around and didn’t even need to look. I knocked down the pin and almost picked up with split. GAME OVER!!

Next week we will get our 1st place trophy’s and all three of us will be getting individual awards.
